Final Project
Off screen interaction
(Sensory engagement and the Haptic)
My concept is an interactive environment that has a sensor that tracks your eye movements in the proximity of the sensor and then pops up with information on a projector above the object. So similar to an Xbox Kinect where it picks up your movements this picks up your eye movements and when you want to read information that tourist attraction etc.. it will then pop up with that information.
The concept
What can it be used for?

-Museums
-Galleries
-Public Spaces
-Directions
-Tourist Destinations
-Airports
Size comparison to a man of 5ft 11"
Any age can use the interactive envioroment all you have to do is look at the infared scanner and then it will pop up with the information.
“Gestural systems are no different from any other form of interaction. They need to follow the basic rules of interaction design, which means well-defined modes of expression, a clear conceptual model of the way they interact with the system, their consequences, and means of navigating unintended consequences. As a result, means of providing feedback, explicit hints as to possible actions, and guides for how they are to be conducted are required. Because gestures are unconstrained, they are apt to be performed in an ambiguous or uninterruptible manner, in which case constructive feedback is required to allow the person to learn the appropriate manner of performance and to understand what was wrong with their action. As with all systems, some undo mechanism will be required in situations where unintended actions or interpretations of gestures create undesirable states. And because gesturing is a natural, automatic behavior, the system has to be tuned to avoid false responses to movements that were not intended to be system inputs. Solving this problem might accidentally cause more misses, movements that were intended to be interpreted, but were not. Neither of these situations is common with keyboard, touchpad, pens, or mouse actions.” Donald Normal ‘NUI‘.
Down below is an article of an airport in the UK that scans passengers eyes as they walk around the airport same sort of technology and concept but myn is going to be an interactive environment rather than a security feature. But could also be used for security.
Eye silhouette for the scanner on the front of the machine

This is the concept design with the alliminum shell with the eye logo where the scanner is joing to be with the hole at the top where the projector will shine out.
This is the concept piece with the red eye scanner instead of the grey eye icon.
How i want the Interactive environment to look like
Projection of the information on the tourist attraction on where the machine is placed.
This is an example on how i want the information to placed on the projection/hologram that pops up.
